Feminist gets upset having to wear high heels for customer facing job

I recently read an experience from a feminist complaining that her boss was asking her to where high heeled shoes for her job.

Obviously every other woman on the feminst forum piled on in to tell her that she should wear whatever she damn well pleases and that the boss is obviously a man and has no right.

The thing is the lady admits she is working with clients and the boss is telling her that it looks more professional when she wears heels as opposed to flat shoes. Now whether he is right or wrong, is immaterial. It is his business, he thinks that looks better, it's his job to keep everyone employed and he's clearly communicating that these things out. Rather than accept it she's just complaining about it. She argues about it, and the rest of the feminist's arguments about it are typically hysterical

I don't want to leave my job because I need it, and heels aren't officially part of the dress code, but it's something that my boss obviously feels very strongly about, and I'm afraid it's going to affect my opportunities for promotion going forward.

Yes if you are not performing your duties as your boss wants you to perform then then, irrespetive if you are male or female, that will likely hold you back.

No, the thing that really gets me is that there is no man equivalent to this. That's what really gets me -- how unfair is is. Heels are not professional attire -- they're a relic of patriarchal attitudes of what a woman should look like. A woman's ability should never be judged on her appearance. It should be judged on her ability, end of.

This sums up a lot of feminist attitudes. If it's something they don't like (why is it always something that requires a bit of effort on their part?) then it's always pushed out to patriachy, the invisible boogey man that controls everything.

However there are male equivalents to this. If you've ever attended a wedding, on a hot summer's day, then you are not allowed to wear comfortable summer clothes you are wearing a suit. Shirt, jacket, tie in sweltering heat whilst the ladies enjoy summer dresses, a solar parasol and cooling, appropriate attire.

Again this feminist is seeing gender in something that is absolutely just not there. There are plenty of women who will wear high heels, who like them, who think it makes them look more attractive. These women are dismissed, by feminists, for having "internalised misogyny". The feminists argue these women grew up in a patriachial society and have been taught to wear these heels for the male gaze. Feminists just seem completely teflon and ultimately anybody who disagrees with anything they say are denounced.

The final part the feminists complains about is extremely interesting:

I'm sorry, I just needed to vent. This is 2025 and I'm literally worrying about my prospects in this job because of my footwear.

The thing is, certain jobs require certain attire. If you are working in sales, customer focussing, then yes you need to look smart and professional. Yours boss gets to decide what that is, not you. As always, when people don't like their job, the question is why not go and work somewhere else ? Better still why not go and set up your own company, showing the way and how things should be done. For some reason, these people never do that. It's always easier to be on the sidelines complaining and bitching about things than to make something happen.

Finally, when it comes to footwear not being important to the job ? Well astronauts, fire fighters, cooks, police would all disagree with you.
