Women's spaces will often lament algorithms serving up misgonystic content to young boys and radicalising them into the Manosphere. The blame for this is often directed at various places: men going to the right, search algorithms or any number of places but never at the most obvious cause of this itself.
Search engines, Instagram etc are serving Andrew Tate content to young, teenage, boys within 2 hours of the account being created. It's a neat, scape goat for what is happening isn't it ? Big internet companies are servive up misgynistic content and radicalising a group of teenage boys and causing mayhem for girls. This theory wholeheartedly absolves anyone of any wrong doing and explains why teenage boys are being beastly to innocent teenage girls.
Firstly search algorithms are serving up content they think you will like, what is popular. It is serving up Andrew Tate because he is saying something that other teenage boys have bought into and so the algorithm is serving it up to the new account. This is not an evil, patriachal plan, this is actually far more alarming than that. It's showing that there is an audience for this content, amongst teenage boys. Removing the algorithm doesn't fix anything, the appetite is still there and will simply be served by another content store.
The absolute hysteria over Adolescence, a Netflix
FICTIONAL DRAMA shows the attitude that is mainstream and prevalent towards teenage boys. 66.3Million people watched it, Labour started a campaign to have it
shown in all schools in the United Kingdom. It absolutely feeds into the latent misandry in the world: boys are violent and bad, girls are innocent and at risk. Again, let's just remember, this is a fictional drama that did not happen.
A month later, April 28th, a 14 year old girl was
sentenced for stabbing two teachers at her school. This was not a fictional drama, this was real, it actually happened. Yet were was the public hysteria over this ? Were were Labour warning teachers, or young girls, about violence ? There was none.
There is an undercurrent of misandry in this country, in the world. It repeatedly pumps out the same message over and over. Men and boys are bad, women are good and downtrodden. It leads to people making stupid decisions, over the risks, like saying they'd rather meet a bear in the woods, who could rip them limb from limb, than a man who could help them.
If you are a teenage boy growing up against this backdrop of sexism, against you, due to your gender isn't it natural you are going to follow somebody who tells you "Hey, you are not bad because of your gender?" that tells you "Women have it easy and are a priviledged class?".
The reality is we need to stop painting boys in such a bad light and we feminism needs to take a good hard look at itself, to it's misandry it repeatedly pumps out and the toxic effect that has in pushing boys to extremists. Until that happens the polarisation, the pushing of boys to extreminists will continue. On reddit, a feminist subreddit won't even allow you to mention misandry:
It's this which is driving radicalisation of young men, it's this which is driving teenage boys to Andrew Tate, it's the outright misandry which men and boys face every, single, day of their lives.
