Why do women only settlements fail ?

Image
Before the 4B movement (a radical feminist movement that aims to remove men from women's lives) there were several attempts to set up women only camps. Often, in feminist circles, women dream of this freedom. Men being removed, women not having to live in fear and life is basically unicorns and rainbows. The obvious question, that nobody seems to ask is "If it's such a great idea why aren't these things common ?". Any feminist post touting the idea will have hundreds of women commenting how great it will be and how they want this to happen. So let's look at what has happened to these attempts in the past. If it's so great why do they all fail ? Surely women freed from the patriachy bogeyman, with no men to oppress them are going to go on to do amazing things ? Surely ? Well, they all fail. There's been a few attempts in the past for example "Camp Sister Spirt" founded in 1993, closed in 2010. It had a good run, 17 years before it inevitabl...

The mythical wage gap

Image
One of the many gripes women have is the gender pay gap. According to wikipedia pay gap, allegedly, manifests itself in two ways Women are paid the same as men but generally work less hours and so end up with less money Women are paid less for exactly the same labour as men On the face of it, looking at that data, gosh it's the evil bogeyman patriachy holding women back, yet again. As always though what lies beneath it is way more subtle and really, put the claims under a microscope and they evaporate away. The first observation to make, in the EU at least, women just work fewer hours than men . For whatever reason women choose to work fewer hours and so have less money as a result. Is this really a gender pay gap ? Or is this free choice with women choosing that money is less important to them than other activities ? Do they value the flexibility of working less hours prioritising their children ? Isn't it, perhaps, fortunate they have the ability to to enjoy that ability ...

Patriachy keeps women locked into child care

Image
" I’m on the way home from a long trip that included three separate flights each way. In most of these flights, I saw this family seating pattern over and over: Parents in adjacent aisle seats, with the kids next to the woman. That left the man free to drink or sleep, while the woman handled all the child care. This seemed to me like such a powerful illustration of the patriarchy in action. I guess when you have kids, only men get vacations. " So writes one woman seeing the patriachy bogeyman everywhere. These sorts of posts always make me smile as they are invariably written by young woman who have yet to have children themselvs. They are looking at family life, through naivety, a child's position, and seeing things from an very limited view point. The thing is having children is a huge upheavel in your life. The life that you knew before, care free (taking long trips with three seperate flights each way for example) doesn't really exist anymore. It can do but it...

Women continue to practise sexism, despite claiming they want equal rights?

Image
A new sensation has oppened in Australia, a women's only night club. That's right men are denied entry based purely on gender. The club is called The Black Out Room and takes place in The Aberdeen Hotel , in Perth. The comments on Facebook have been, well not entirely happy about things. This has galvanised the two women, running the club, into a defiance.  This is not the first time that Australia has set up openly misandrist venues. There was a vegan cafe, "Handsome Her" which opened up in Melbourne in 2017 which openly charged men more to use the cafe. Men enjoyed an 18% surchage to cover the widely debunked Gender Pay Gap. 2 Years later and Handsome Her had to close down . It feels that running a business is tough enough but is even harder if you are openly discriminating against 50% of your potential customer base. The thing is, these ventures force us to ask what sort of society we want to be. If we are going to be truly equal rights, then we need to practise w...

The problem with lived experience

Image
The problem with lived experience is that it's often proffered as evidence as to why a certain thing is the way it is. Feminist circles often use this to push the narrative that "All men are trash". Page after page of how awful men have been are offfered and it shows a compelling picture. The thing is that this "lived experience" is not really evidence of anything. We all know the odds of winning the UK national lottery are approximately 1 in 14 million . This is the equivalent of tossing a coin and getting heads 21 times in a row. It's extremely unlikely, yet there were 383 winners in 2024 . The majority of people will accept that winning the lottery is extremely unlikely. However if you are in a large enough population then there will likely be a few lottery winners there. "It's really unlikely you will win the lottery", "Well I did!", "Yes and so did I". It starts to feel that those incredibly long odds are actually mo...

Flawed study finds women judged against more criteria, when hiring, than men

Image
A new study has been published which suggests men are evaluated on their competence to do a job but women are evaluated way more stringently and are also evaluated against their morality and sociability too. The feminists of reddit seize on this, add their own lived experiences, and before you know it we have yet more proof that the patriachy bogeyman is holding women back. " Not to make this political, but look at how Kamala was judged. She was a DEI despite having a fairly illustrious career in politics and being an Attorney’s General among other positions while Trump was a felon with a terrible first presidential term and no political experience outside of that first term. Our country is literally in shambles because of misogyny . " I do wonder how many of those feminists even click on the link to read the actual study, which can be found here . If you, take the time to read it, you can find it's fairly flawed and nothing like as clear cut as the title would suggest....

Why are feminists so angry ?

Image
Feminist spaces are full of angry women. Angry at everything and anybody remotely male. The gripes are often the patriachy bogeyman and misogyny. The visitors to these forums are so triggered, so unhappy, that they seem to find fault in anything they can. From a car rental issue being resolved, at the end, the same time a feminist cc'd their male partner into the email or a woman who got turned down for a job and the ONLY reason it could be is misogyny. Online forums create angry women who see the ghost of the patriachy bogeyman absolutely everywhere. The last concept from any angry feminist's mind is that correlation does not necessarily mean causation : There are more TV aerials in the USA than in Africa HIV is more pevalent in Africa than the USA Therefore TV Aerials prevent HIV My guess is that sociology, and in particular Women's Studies university courses, do not teach statistical analysis, or much mathematics on their courses. The  Oxford University Women's S...
